  The College has provided Computer facility to each department with a view to encourage the 
faculty and the Students to get up-to-date information to inculcate their research activities

specially meant for the Faculty and the meritorious Students of the respective Departments. 
The Laboratory based Department are well equipped with the Laboratory apparatus in accordance
with the new Syllabus.

Good Practices of the College:
-----------------------------
 Balurghat College has been catering education in 15 different Honours Subjects. Besides this
the College also oflers P.G. education in Bengali. introduction of P.G. Courses in Sanskrit 
and History is also in pipeline. The College has its own Museum which contains Antics of the 
glories of the past. Balurghat College has also introduced Career Oriented Programme(COP) in 
Computer Application, Communicative English and Electronics Equipment Maintenance. Two NCC 
troops, one for Boys and other for Girls are rendering their valuable service to the Nation as
 a whole. The College performs all forms of  social activities especially in the remote 
villages of Dakshin Dinajpur through its NSS wings. Balurghat College provides Full-free and 
Half-free Studentship to more than 15% Students according to merit and financial position of 
the Students, with especial attention to SC, ST. Minorities, BPL & APL Students. Every year 
the Students of every Department securing highest marks in the Final University Examinations 
are awarded by the College. Provision for awarding prizes to the Students of each Subject and 
of each Class who secure highest attendance. The College is trying to provide adequate Books 
to the Students from the Departmental Book-bank besides the books provided from the General 
Library.

Balurghat College is established in the year 1948 and since then the College has been catering
 Higher Education to the people of this locality, particularly the down - trodden weaker 
section of the society and below poverty line. the College has been stepping in its Diamond 
Jubilee year in the way of rendering services to uphold the academic milieu and nurture the 
Human resource of the District & its surroundings. The College also runs the Study Centre of 
NSOU, IGNOU and NBU in Distance Education mode with great success to disseminate education to 
all. In this way the College has been plying the role of a torch bearer to upkeep the cuhural 
and Socio - economic backbond of the District and its surroundings.
