Post Graduate Courses

The P.G. courses of the University Campus have commenced from December 15,2008 ( 2008--2009 session ) in seven subjects, namely, M.A. in English, Bengali, Arabic, Sanskrit, History, Education and M.Sc. in Mathematics. Initially the classes are being held at local colleges of Malda, namely, Malda College ( Mathe. / Sanskrit), Gour Mahavidyalaya ( Bengali/Arabic/History ), Govt.Teachers Training College ( Education) and Malda Women's College ( English) in the morning shift. The second batch of P.G. Courses for 2009-10 session started on 4.8.09.

Admission Policy ( 2009-10 session )

RULES FOR ADMISSION IN M.A. COURSES IN ENGLISH, BENGALI, ARABIC,SANSKRIT, HISTORY, EDUCATION and M.Sc. in MATHEMATICS UNDER SEMESTER SYSTEM. I. Intake in each subject is initially fixed at 50 ( fifty ). II. The Classes will be held in the morning shift in the local colleges in Malda. The date will be notified separately. III. Only those who graduated with Hons. under ( 10+2+3 ) system or equivalent exam. in 2007 and thereafter are eligible for admission. Selection will be based on merit – cum- year of graduation with Hons. with preference given to the Hons. graduates from the affiliated colleges in the Districts of Malda, Uttar Dinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur. For example, the order of preference will be as shown below : (i) 1st class Hons. graduates of NBU from the affiliated colleges of districts mentioned above in 2009. (ii) 2nd class Hons. graduates of NBU from the affiliated colleges of districts mentioned above in 2009. (iii) 1st class Hons. graduates of NBU from the affiliated colleges of districts mentioned above in 2008. (iv) 2nd class Hons. graduates of NBU from the affiliated colleges of districts mentioned above in 2008. (v) 1st class Hons. graduates of NBU from the affiliated colleges of districts mentioned above in 2007. (vi) 2nd class Hons. graduates of NBU from the affiliated colleges of districts mentioned above in 2007. (vii) 1st class Hons. graduates from the other districts and other Universities of West Bengal and other States in the order 2009/2008/2007. (viii) 2nd class Hons. graduates from the other districts and other Universities of West Bengal and other States in the order 2009/2008/2007. IV. 10% seats will be reserved for students for other districts and other Universities of West Bengal and other States in India in the order 2009/2008/2007. V. Seats will be reserved for SC ( 22%), ST (6%), BPL (3% ) and Physically Handicapped / Challenged (3%) candidates. VI. For NSS awardees, the usual norms will be followed. VII. Application Forms may be submitted during 3.7.09 to 20.7.09 from 10.30 a.m. till 3.30 p.m. The First List of provisionally selected candidates for the 1st Semester will be published in the Notice Board of the University and in the Website ( www.ugb.ac.in ) at 1p.m. on 24.7.09. VIII. Admission will be allowed from 27.7.09 to 31.7.09 during 10.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. The Second List will be published on 31.7.09 at 4 p.m. IX. The provisionally selected candidates of M.A/M.Sc.1st Semester (2009-2010) are to report to the University Office between 10.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. with original mark sheets and other relevant documents viz. SC/ST/PH/BPL/NSS Awardees etc. and certificates in support of special claim, if any, for admission on the specified dates. IX. They will collect the fee book.

XI. The fee book, duly filled-in with the fees as listed below and the relevant original documents, are to be submitted to the office for verification. After verification, the office will issue a certificate on the strength of which the Finance Branch will receive the fees at the Cash Counter. 1. Admission fee : Rs. 63.00/-per semester 2. Tuition fee ( 1st semester): Rs. 750.00 (Rs.375.00 for BPL category) 3. Session fee : Rs. 63.00/-per semester 4. Magazine fee : Rs. 10.00/- per semester 5. Library fee : Rs. 10.00/-per semester 6. Students’ Aid Fund : Rs. 30.00/-per annum 7. Students’ Health Home : Rs. 05.00/-per semester 8. Development Fee : Rs. 50.00/- per semester 10. Identity Card : Rs. 20.00/-(once) ============================= Total: Rs. 1001.00 (Total Rs. 626.00 for BPL category)

XII. After depositing the fees at the University Cash Counter, the candidates shall produce the receipt book to the University Office on the same day for confirmation of the provisional Roll Numbers. If the confirmation is not done on the same day, the admission may be cancelled. XIII. The students shall submit the duly filled-in Form for the Identity Card along with two-stamp sized photographs to University Office on dates to be notified separately. XIV. The M.A/M.Sc. 1st Semester classes for the session 2009-2010 are likely to commence in early August. The date will be notified separately. XV. Admission shall be treated as cancelled if a student fails to attend 50% of classes during first 15 days from the commencement of classes. XVI. Every student shall be strictly bound by the University Act, Statutes, Ordinances, Rules and Regulations for prosecution of the respective course. XVII. A student shall attend at least 75% of the classes and tutorials held in a Semester to be eligible to appear in the Semester Examination.
